EMF (Electromagnetic Fields) includes natural EMF’s from nature and also all the man made EMF’s which started in the 1740’s with the discovery of electricity.
Speaking of natural EMF’s, lets start with the very low frequency EMF radiated from the earth called the Shumann resonance. This gentle EMF which vibrates at 7.83 Hz (cycles per second) is actually the “heart beat of the Earth”. This is not only good for us, it is necessary for good health and so we do not want to block this frequency which comes from our mother earth.
Another very important EMF is the cosmic rays and radiation from the sun. The EMF from thei sun is very high frequency which vibrates at over a trillion Hz (cycles per second. The The EMF which we call “visble light” which comes from the sun is essential for life on earth and is responsible for rain, the growth of crops, and many other things that are essential for life on earth. However the Sun also produces some dangerous radiation such as very short wavelength rays that can be damaging to life and earth and so the creator has provided a layer of protection from these dangerous rays which we call the atmosphere of the earth. This atmosphere above the earth protects us from these harmful rays from the sun. Next we will talk about the 4 types of “man made” EMF’s that sometimes have negative effects on us.
Let’s focus now on the man made EMF’s that were first introduced with the discovery of electricity and discuss the 4 categories of EMF’s that have been associated with adverse health outcomes. We meassure each of these levels during a home assessment.
1. Electric Fields, 2. Magnetic Fields, 3. Dirty Electricity, 4. Radio frequency Radiation.
The good news is that if any of these 4 types of EMF are at high levels in your home, office, or school, we can recommend mitigation procedures to help bring these levels down to safe levels or the lowest achievable level which will greatly reduce the likelihood that these EMF’s will cause adverse health effects.
1. Electric Fields – These very low frequency waves radiate from our high power electric lines that one can see on the high poles and other structures that carry electricity long distances and into our homes. These lines also run underground in many neighbor hoods. The electric fields can radiate from the high voltage power lines outside out homes into our homes and also the electric wires in our walls, ceilings, and floors can also radiate electric fields into our living spaces.
2. Magnetic fields are generated when electricity flows and can ts radiate from high voltage power electric lines that come to our home and also radiate from electric wires in our home if there are wiring errors. Most of the magnetic fields in our homes radiate from motors that power pumps and other appliances in our homes and also can radiate from power transformers needed to transform the 120 volts at electric outlets that is present at our plugs in our homes, and this voltage is reduced to a much lower voltage to power almost all of our electronic equipment such as computers, tablets, cell phones and other lower voltage devices.
3. “Dirty Electricity” which is also called MEP which stands for Microsurge Electric Pollution – when electricity comes into our homes it frequently has been distorted and “dirty” after traveling long distances and passing through many connections and tansformers. Also once this “dirty electricity” comes into the home, we use many devices that add additional dirty electricity to the power lines such as the many “wall warts” that decorate our homes and are the power transformers which step down the 120 volts of power to a lower voltage that will power our electronic devices. Also pool pumps, sump pumps, hair dryers, solar panel inverters, LED, halogen and other lights, and dimmer switches all produce dirty electricity which add to the dirty power coming into our homes from the power companies.
4. Radiofrequency radiation – This is the very high frequency radiation which radiates from Cell Towers and Smart METERS outside of our home and from our cell phones, WiFi enabled routers, tablets and IPads, computers, baby monitors and all the “Smart devicec” in our homes like Ring Central or similar doorbells, bluetooth enabled stereo systems, smart TVs, Mesh WiFi extenders throughout our home and many other modern devices.
There is good evidence that all 4 of these EMF fields, which we can measure, can result in adverse health effects for those that are sensitive to these man made EMF’s
This varies from person to person, however the most common symptoms that can be caused by high levels of EMF (Electromagnetic Field) radiation are as follows: headache, brain fog, poor memory, irritability, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping or insomnia, tinnitus or ringing of the ears, heart palpitations or pressure in the chest, frequent urination, chronic fatigue, weakness, and low energy.
In the 17th and 18th century when electricity was rolled out around the globe. Both doctors and patients associated the following symptoms from electric field exposures. This was a time when they did not have exposure to RF (radio frequency fields). And when radar was developed in the 1930’s it radiated RF (radio frequency) radiation. This RF radiation was associated with the same set of symptoms as electric fields in the 17th and 18th centuries. The RF from radar is very similar to the RF radiation from our cell phones, cell towers, and WiFi routers. This means that the symptoms listed below were associated with exposure to both electric fields in the 17th and 18th centuries and RF (radio frequency) radiation in the 19th century. It is also estimated that in the 17th, 18th, 19th and present century that about 5-12% of the population is very sensitive to these EMF fields. “Radio wave sickness” was a term used in the 19th century in Russia to describe what we now label as “EMF” or “Electro Sensitivity” at the present time.
Radio wave sickness or EMF sensitivity in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries was associated with
1. Anxiety and anxiety disorders. These anxiety disorders were also called Neurasthenia in the 17th and 18th Century
2. Irritability
3. Insomnia
4. Heart palpitations, arrhythmias, and chest pain
5. Shortness of breath and asthma attacks
6. Perspiration
